Face Facts...

This is a photo I took with my phone from the NY Post. This news paper is known to lean to the "right" but shit this is ridiculous. I want the newspaper to report facts not try to shift popular opinion. Instead of simply reporting that Clinton opened a presidential library they attack it and report what they believe should be in it. So strange. The Post always has sensational headlines and I believe it is owned by Rupert Murdock and Fox. O' Reily has his column in it as well. I wonder how honest reporters can work for a newspaper when they obviously have to report a certain way about certain things. I'm sorry it just doesn't seem right. I want to see facts. Reporters should be trying to unravel scandels and keep big buisness and government in line. It seems they have evolved into political pundits with the Republicans controlling the Post and Democrats controlling the Daily News. The Times seems to be in the center to me. I see both Post and Daily News everyday because of my job and its amazing how they can both report the same thing in 2 different ways.

Eh end rant
Am I the only one bothered with this?

Asian Cinema

If you know me you know one of my vices is Asian Cinema. I used to go to Rte 18 FLee Market and Englishtown to pick up movies every weekend. I lost alot of my movies during the couple of years I was moving around alot. Well I found a new place very close to where I'm living now and they charge $25 for 3 movies. If anyone in Jersey is interested its on Rt 18 South at the Brunswick Square Mall. There's a stand in the middle of the mall run by a hindu guy. He's cool and he knows his stuff but his english isn't too good. If I mention a movie or a certain asian director I like one week, the next week he'll have the movies for me. When ever he recommends a movie its always an awsome one. I really lucked out.

So here is a little run down of the films I've picked up.
First my favorite, as I've mentioned before,
TALE OF TWO SISTERS
OLD BOY
CASSHERN
THE HIDDEN FORTRESS - Kurosawa
NEW POLICE STORY - Jackie Chan
BATTLE ROYALE
JUON the Grudge 1 + 2I thought part two was better.
VERSUS
AZUMI
UZUMAKI this movie freaked me the hell out! It was great

the list goes on with Gozu, Ringu 1 + 2, House of Flying Daggers, Shaoling Soccer, Hero.

I am slowly picking up the Criterion DvD's of Kurosawa's Movies. I picked up Rashomon and they did a great job on it. The transfer, the extras, and especially the commentary were very insiteful. The commentary made me view the movie on another level and has helped me in trying to layout comic pages. I hope the other films are as packed with extras as that one is. Shit better be for about $40 a dvd. :)

Enough out of me. I posted this shit because I love Asian cinema and I hope to maybe get some of you interested in it enough to enjoy some original great films you otherwise would never have heard of.

You Are Cordially Invited!

Deunen's Photo Album

I am uploading pictures from my cellphone there. Mostly pictures of family members right now but if I run across some cool shit it'll go there.

Let's get this thing back on track

I need to be more consistent with this shit huh? :) Sometimes I realize this thing is pointless and that no one is reading it so it has kind of dropped off my radar. But I think its important to have thoughts and ideas open to others and promote free thought so our great nation doesn't become a nation of morons who follow a "drone mentality" where nothing is questioned. I feel its important for people to understand every person is their brother and that we are all creatures of emotion, feeling, and intelligence. The media likes to generalize alot and cram alot of information into 5 minute segments so they can go to commercial breaks and I think we really lose the human factor of many things. For example, its amazing how the word terrorist is being thrown around. If we want to deal with the long term terrorist problem we should be dealing with the issues that are pissing these people off now. Right now it seems like we are simply killing or making "pay off" type deals.

The election has come and gone. I am saddened that I have lost trust in the government. E-Voting is the logical way to go, given the advancement of technology and its user-friendly interface, but how the fuck can there not be a paper trail especially after the 2000 election. It creates a very uneasy feeling. The fact that a 70+ yr old woman was operating the machine wasn't reassuring. I do trust the woman not to intentionally do anything wrong but shit that is the latest technology there. I remember her hand was shaky and she had to fix her huge glasses to press a button after I exited the machine. I was happy to see tho that people were getting out to vote and I hope the citizens of this great nation sit up and take notice of the actions of our appointed leaders.

Ok back to me. What's going on Art wize. I completed a page for the Ghost Moon Knight project and it was inked! I was creamed in the Rob Leifeld challenge. The grass really fucked me up. I had to rush that part and I had never done anything like that. If you see the drawing you'll know what I mean. I have done thumbnails for alot of the unknown comic and just need to get the actual pages done. I am also working on an original Flash comic with the writer of the Moon Knight Jam. I had wanted to do a small 3-5 scene just to add to my portfolio but after throwing alot of ideas back and forth the story has grown into a full blown FLASH COMIC!! featuring Batman, Joker, and many of Flashes Rogues. Its really fun and I am looking forward to getting that done.

Unfortunately for me and most of the people in my age group HALO 2 was released. And God said let Halo now have online multiplayer! and it was good. Hallelujah. So many great games are coming out within a small window of time that I wouldn't be surprised if it affects industry production, the stock market, and relationships. I myself have been playing Halo like a drug addict. I sometimes catch a glimpse of myself in the reflection of my tv and have to ask "Fuck how long have I been playing". Yes folks its that good. I try to go in for a quick game and end up getting sucked into playing for a couple hours.

Besides the comics I am also reading CRIMES AGAINST NATURE by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. It goes through the many ties between the Bush administration and different Industries as well as how both are subverting and weakening enviromental laws to further profit at the expense of the health of our people and our world. It is just going through facts and pointing out things that most people don't realize are going on. Not as fun as some other books out now but still enlightening. Alot of people during this past election were voting because they just wanted to get rid of Bush. I think its important to understand what he's done wrong so mistakes won't be repeated and people aren't simply filled with hate for hates sake.

Shit this is getting long and I haven't even gotten into the many Asian films I've seen recently or the great comics that have been coming out. So I will just make two recommendations. Asian film - Get TALE OF TWO SISTERS! Suck a beautiful film. One of the few films I can label PERFECT. It is from South Korea and hasn't been released offically here yet but it should be easy to find in stores that specialize in Asian Cinema. Comics - Get Identity Crisis. If you are into DC comics you are probably already reading this. But wth it deserves the praise it has been getting. It is a murder mystery involving the JLA as well as alot of the DCU. Usually when Marvel or DC does a big multi-character event it is something cosmic or Earth threatening so IC is a great change of pace.

Take care people
