Random BS

Nasty huh!

I'm guessing thats pork. Everynight in the meat department they have like 3 trash cans full of this crap. I'm assuming this is what gets shredded up to make hotdogs. The store I work in has bad equipment so everynight I have to go to every department looking for the best rolling tables and u-boats. The meat department is the worst tho because it stinks and any equipment I do find is usually covered in some kind of blood or slime.

Apparantly this is the equivelant of giving the finger in the UK.

First picture is my buddy from work, Rob, and the second is me. That fuck'n Harry Potter PoP freaks me out all the time because its almost life size. I catch it in the corner of my eye and think it's a real person. I was giving Rob shit because Potter looked taller than him. I look pretty fkn ripped in that pic. I told Rob to focus on my hand. I'm giving the American finger there. It didn't come out too great eh. There was a hot 3-d Spongebob that was about half my height that I wanted to take home with me but either someone got to it before me or they chucked it when I wasn't around.

Still drawing and working. I've picked up some great Asian movies but I'll make a post specifically about that tommorrow. I've been really blown away by the Korean movies. I finished my book on Perpective and am now copying some of the examples in the book and rereading certain sections.

*Great Deal Alert!!*
Get to a fucking Barnes & Nobles. They have the first book of Akira HARDCOVER! for only $15. That is insane. I bought the paperback edition with newprint type paper for $30 only a little more than a year ago. I hope they give this kind of special treatment to each volume. I'd definetly buy all 6 again. Akira is so fkn beautiful . It has an epic, cinematic scope, a sci fi adventure about friendship. Go NOW!

Face Facts...

This is a photo I took with my phone from the NY Post. This news paper is known to lean to the "right" but shit this is ridiculous. I want the newspaper to report facts not try to shift popular opinion. Instead of simply reporting that Clinton opened a presidential library they attack it and report what they believe should be in it. So strange. The Post always has sensational headlines and I believe it is owned by Rupert Murdock and Fox. O' Reily has his column in it as well. I wonder how honest reporters can work for a newspaper when they obviously have to report a certain way about certain things. I'm sorry it just doesn't seem right. I want to see facts. Reporters should be trying to unravel scandels and keep big buisness and government in line. It seems they have evolved into political pundits with the Republicans controlling the Post and Democrats controlling the Daily News. The Times seems to be in the center to me. I see both Post and Daily News everyday because of my job and its amazing how they can both report the same thing in 2 different ways.

Eh end rant
Am I the only one bothered with this?

Asian Cinema

If you know me you know one of my vices is Asian Cinema. I used to go to Rte 18 FLee Market and Englishtown to pick up movies every weekend. I lost alot of my movies during the couple of years I was moving around alot. Well I found a new place very close to where I'm living now and they charge $25 for 3 movies. If anyone in Jersey is interested its on Rt 18 South at the Brunswick Square Mall. There's a stand in the middle of the mall run by a hindu guy. He's cool and he knows his stuff but his english isn't too good. If I mention a movie or a certain asian director I like one week, the next week he'll have the movies for me. When ever he recommends a movie its always an awsome one. I really lucked out.

So here is a little run down of the films I've picked up.
First my favorite, as I've mentioned before,
TALE OF TWO SISTERS
OLD BOY
CASSHERN
THE HIDDEN FORTRESS - Kurosawa
NEW POLICE STORY - Jackie Chan
BATTLE ROYALE
JUON the Grudge 1 + 2I thought part two was better.
VERSUS
AZUMI
UZUMAKI this movie freaked me the hell out! It was great

the list goes on with Gozu, Ringu 1 + 2, House of Flying Daggers, Shaoling Soccer, Hero.

I am slowly picking up the Criterion DvD's of Kurosawa's Movies. I picked up Rashomon and they did a great job on it. The transfer, the extras, and especially the commentary were very insiteful. The commentary made me view the movie on another level and has helped me in trying to layout comic pages. I hope the other films are as packed with extras as that one is. Shit better be for about $40 a dvd. :)

Enough out of me. I posted this shit because I love Asian cinema and I hope to maybe get some of you interested in it enough to enjoy some original great films you otherwise would never have heard of.

You Are Cordially Invited!

Deunen's Photo Album

I am uploading pictures from my cellphone there. Mostly pictures of family members right now but if I run across some cool shit it'll go there.

Let's get this thing back on track

I need to be more consistent with this shit huh? :) Sometimes I realize this thing is pointless and that no one is reading it so it has kind of dropped off my radar. But I think its important to have thoughts and ideas open to others and promote free thought so our great nation doesn't become a nation of morons who follow a "drone mentality" where nothing is questioned. I feel its important for people to understand every person is their brother and that we are all creatures of emotion, feeling, and intelligence. The media likes to generalize alot and cram alot of information into 5 minute segments so they can go to commercial breaks and I think we really lose the human factor of many things. For example, its amazing how the word terrorist is being thrown around. If we want to deal with the long term terrorist problem we should be dealing with the issues that are pissing these people off now. Right now it seems like we are simply killing or making "pay off" type deals.

The election has come and gone. I am saddened that I have lost trust in the government. E-Voting is the logical way to go, given the advancement of technology and its user-friendly interface, but how the fuck can there not be a paper trail especially after the 2000 election. It creates a very uneasy feeling. The fact that a 70+ yr old woman was operating the machine wasn't reassuring. I do trust the woman not to intentionally do anything wrong but shit that is the latest technology there. I remember her hand was shaky and she had to fix her huge glasses to press a button after I exited the machine. I was happy to see tho that people were getting out to vote and I hope the citizens of this great nation sit up and take notice of the actions of our appointed leaders.

Ok back to me. What's going on Art wize. I completed a page for the Ghost Moon Knight project and it was inked! I was creamed in the Rob Leifeld challenge. The grass really fucked me up. I had to rush that part and I had never done anything like that. If you see the drawing you'll know what I mean. I have done thumbnails for alot of the unknown comic and just need to get the actual pages done. I am also working on an original Flash comic with the writer of the Moon Knight Jam. I had wanted to do a small 3-5 scene just to add to my portfolio but after throwing alot of ideas back and forth the story has grown into a full blown FLASH COMIC!! featuring Batman, Joker, and many of Flashes Rogues. Its really fun and I am looking forward to getting that done.

Unfortunately for me and most of the people in my age group HALO 2 was released. And God said let Halo now have online multiplayer! and it was good. Hallelujah. So many great games are coming out within a small window of time that I wouldn't be surprised if it affects industry production, the stock market, and relationships. I myself have been playing Halo like a drug addict. I sometimes catch a glimpse of myself in the reflection of my tv and have to ask "Fuck how long have I been playing". Yes folks its that good. I try to go in for a quick game and end up getting sucked into playing for a couple hours.

Besides the comics I am also reading CRIMES AGAINST NATURE by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. It goes through the many ties between the Bush administration and different Industries as well as how both are subverting and weakening enviromental laws to further profit at the expense of the health of our people and our world. It is just going through facts and pointing out things that most people don't realize are going on. Not as fun as some other books out now but still enlightening. Alot of people during this past election were voting because they just wanted to get rid of Bush. I think its important to understand what he's done wrong so mistakes won't be repeated and people aren't simply filled with hate for hates sake.

Shit this is getting long and I haven't even gotten into the many Asian films I've seen recently or the great comics that have been coming out. So I will just make two recommendations. Asian film - Get TALE OF TWO SISTERS! Suck a beautiful film. One of the few films I can label PERFECT. It is from South Korea and hasn't been released offically here yet but it should be easy to find in stores that specialize in Asian Cinema. Comics - Get Identity Crisis. If you are into DC comics you are probably already reading this. But wth it deserves the praise it has been getting. It is a murder mystery involving the JLA as well as alot of the DCU. Usually when Marvel or DC does a big multi-character event it is something cosmic or Earth threatening so IC is a great change of pace.

Take care people

Getting started...

For my first entry of the Liefeld Redesign I've decided to do a splash page of Shaft showing off the bow and arrow. It is kind of like the sketch I put up here where the bow drops and he catches it only more dynamic and on a comic art board. No background planned but I may whip something up in photoshop. I am going to get this done over the next 2 days. After that I definetly want to do one for Badrock. If I still have time I'll do Diehard. Sentinel is kind of a weak concept looking back now. It would be cool as a subplot or a small side story but it isn't as much of a change of "character" as Shaft so it is less interesting.

I picked up some great books. The first, Mitch Byrd's Notes to Draw From Comic Book Illustration. The second, Perspective! For Comic Book Artists by David Chelsea. After reading the Byrd book I see now how I fk'd up the perpective on the last panel of the Ironman page. O well.

I also picked up a couple Prismacolor Markers. Wow! I can't believe I've never seen these. They were 3 bucks a marker but worth it. The whole set was $150. So I decided to just get greys and experiment with black and white. Look

I know I didn't concentrate on light source or anything but I was just experimenting to get a feel for the markers and see what tones work best where. These are characters from "THE UNKNOWN" project. I was looking up some info about printing a comic out and I found a great place through PencilJack. Color cover + 24 black and white pages for only $.85. Sounds good. Too bad we are still working on script and thumbnails :(.

Take care!

The Villian

Rob Liefelds characters redesign Challenge Update

Diehard - I imagined steam puffing out of the slits in his face mask and out of the tubes on his forearms. I am on the fence about the Predator style shoulder gun. The shield is there just because the original Diehard had one. This one would be of energy. Perhaps it only becomes visible when it's deflecting something.

This is the sketch page that gave birth to the villian. I started with a scene of Shaft burning a photo of the old Youngblood. I needed there to be a reason Shaft would go awol. I knew it would be a battle situation where the other characters would be badly wounded and killed. I thought about the current situation in Iraq. I imagined a situation where the government lies to Shaft just to get him to do something he would never have done.

One example is blowing up Muslim Mosques. Maybe the government tells him there are large cache's of ammo and weapons hidden in the temples. Of course there wouldn't be and many, many civilians are killed. But one of the temples is a very holy site, similar to Mecca, and when it blows open a new Muslim god emerges. He begins empowering the faithful to defend their lands. The emergence of this god unifies all the Arab Nations and he acts as a Spiritual and Military Leader.

Shaft and his team try to fight their way out of the Middle East battling the empowered followers all the way into Turkey, to the brink of Western Civilization. At this border they face the villian. He destroys them in a large battle the result of which would be the characters I have designed. I envision it like this. Shaft and his team see city lights lighting the night sky. Lights of skyscrapers and bridges and billboards. Some of the soldiers drop their bags, others celebrate, Shaft smiles says something like "Think you guys can keep up." He begins running full speed toward the city while the regular soldiers follow right after. Sentinel and Diehard fly overhead. The city is NUKED. Floating in the center of the mushroom cloud is our villian. Close up of his eyes. He has a type of super vision and he sees our heroes out in the desert. Battle Begins. When it ends Shaft is about to be killed when Supreme rushes in to save him. Supreme is on the same level as the villian and he is able to fight him off. When Shaft asks, with blood dripping from his face, "Where the fuck where you?" we cut away and see Glory naked laying across a bed insinuating they were getting it on.

Here is Badrock's scene. The turbaned guys are the empowered followers. I imagined them with glowing eyes and flaming swords.

And here is a detail for the villians face. I was trying to give him a evil look. His costume would be armor but I wanted him to have a cape. But not the cape of a hero, a cape of a conqueror.

Ok I need to stop this planning out now. The idea is pretty much set and now everything has a reason and I am confortable. There are alot of details missing but they are unnecessary.

Hope ya liked

Comic Day from Hell!!!! But that's a good thing :)

Guess how much I spent on fkn comics today. $40!!
The best of the bunch was Amazing Spiderman 512. Gwen Stacey got it on with Green Goblin! Holy Cow was my jaw on the floor. I think anyone reading the series saw this coming but it was still very shocking. Especially that she gave it up willingly. The end of the issue has a great scene of Peter Parker flipping out as he imagines Gwen and Norman "knock'n boots"(dam that's old :) while realizing Norman was her first. The dialogue and interaction between MJ and Peter was great. I think Straczynski is one of the few people able to pull something like this off without it coming off like a "Clone Saga" event.

Flash 214 is a must if your following Identity Crisis. It picks up right after the fight with Deathstroke where Flash was stabbed through the chest. Last issue of Green Lantern, #181, also came out. It was great but didn't really feel like an END. Kyle decides to fly into space and search for his destiny. Where the hell is Hal already geez. Catwoman - When in Rome #1. Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale go back and continue the story that put them on the map only this time following Catwoman instead of Batman. Good stuff. Doctor Spectrum #2 Great companion series to Supreme Power by the man Straczynski. Batman/Superman #12 how many months late is this? We all should know by now that Turner cannot handle a monthly book. It's worth it when they ship tho. Some great "Super Hero" moments in this issue. Batman getting eaten by a giant dog then killing it from the inside. Superman busting out a Kryptonite ring to kick Supergirls azz. But best of all .... Batman beating Darkseid!!! This kind of takes Bats to another level. He's beaten Superman and many super heads ...but Darkseid! Awsome. Then I picked up all the new 2099 books (4) by Kirkman and the new Wiz mag.

For the Liefeld challenge I've started working on ideas for Diehard. Ok check it out.

Diehard has been around since the World Wars. He has had many incarnations and reappeared on various teams. He is the quiet Warrior who is the symbol of our nation. I had the idea that Diehard isn't a person but instead a program. Like Windows. Only the program is of the ultimate soldier. In the same way Windows is installed on hardrives, Diehard is installed onto brains. Then the brains are inserted into the latest cyborgs and robots. When ever a Diehard dies it's brain is retrieved and the data is collected, analyzed and put back into the program. By doing this:

1. The Diehard AI learns from its mistakes
2. The Diehard AI stores all of its memories. This helps the program to seem like one person who is simply living a long time and surviving all battles.

This idea needs a little more fleshing out tho. For instance how could they have this program started during the world wars? Perhaps a situation like when Captain America was unfrozen only his body was destroyed but his brain intact? Don't know. I've started sketching out some droid Diehards and will post them later. I've been thinking of doing some sequentials to get all of these ideas together because this is alot to cram just for a jam.

okokokok I fkn rambled enough
I put some pics up HERE. I don't really like the interface and layout of the site so I may look into different moblog sites. There's a pic of my sister and niece there.

Cellphone Pics

At my job the guys bathroom is always crappy. The bowl is always yellow and people toss paper everywhere except the toilet. On the wall there is a piece of plastic that is where the toilet liners are supposed to be. It has become a kind of bathroom message board. Remember in highschool there were messages of girl's phone numbers or "blank" was here. Well instead this board is filled with things like...

Bush will Win
Kerry fkn flip flopper
various racial slers
Here is a pic. Its hard read but you'll get the idea. I'll try to get a better pics that are legible. I've never contributed until I started seeing these Pro Bush statements. I put Pro Nader stuff :D

and here are the kids. My 2 nieces and nephew.
Anthony

GiGi

Arianna

The girls are in car seats because that day I was hanging out with my sister checking out costumes for Halloween. Gigi wants to be Donkey from Shrek! My sister wanted her to be a princess or something like that. It appears my plan to make her a lesbian may be working.

Sketches cont..

And here is the character that sparked these ideas. Shaft. He has been a staple of almost every Youngblood team. So I wanted to do the opposite. After years of playing the good soldier and following orders he's had enough. His heart had become stone after years of killing. He had no problems leading new heroes to their death, replacing them, reorganizing, and leading newer heroes back into battles. It was the system and the orders where simply passed down to him. He learned not to get attached. But he had an awaking. In the battle that paralyzed Sentinel and shattered Badrock. When he nearly lost the two people he considered family he realised he was just a puppet. The memories of the many heroes he'd seen die flooded his mind. He had tryed to forget the things that made him laugh and smile. The things that horrified and scared him. But he was awake now. I pictured him going RAMBO style into the jumgle. "Fuck the government", he thought. The government invested too much money into him to just let him run away tho. With many heroes still taking orders without asking a single question it should've been easy to retrieve him. Should is important word there. And so our adventure begins.

Here are the pics.

and that's where I am with that :)

Sketches

Here are the sketches for the Rob Liefelds characters redesign Challenge I mentioned in the previous post.

At first I was going to do something with the character KABOOM!. He was not created by Liefeld himself so I couldn't use him. I did this sketch anyhow when I was getting ready to start.

Here is the character Sentinel I described

Here is Badrock. I wanted him to look damaged from years of battles. In the particular battle that left Sentinel paralyzed, Badrock's arm was shattered. To everyones surprise his human form was revealed. After years of being trapped in rock he could "Feel". He quickly begged the doctors to try to remove the rest of his rock skin but they couldn't. Instead they created attachments to protect the arm. Now he has abandoned guns and cannons and rushes headlong into battle hoping to crack open more of his rock shell. In the first pic I was still experimenting the second pic is the whole idea.

Been Busy :(

I finished the Ironman page. The project was scrabbed because we didn't have enough people involved so unfortunately the page won't be inked or colored. I wanted to add a couple little details to the page but for now its complete.

I shaved my head a couple weeks ago and my hair is just starting to grow back in. The fams is cool and everything's going alright.

I've started working on a comic called THE UNKNOWN with my buddy Terrance. I'm thumbnailing the pages right now as well as redesigning the characters and coming up with a style for the book. Visually I hope to make it fun like J. Scott Campbell or Art Adams' art only more urban.

I've also joined the Rob Liefelds characters redesign Challenge over at Pencil JAck in the Proving Ground section. So far I've redesigned SHAFT and BADROCK. I have the designs down now I'm working on the presentation. It's not due until Oct. 15th so if I can get those done early I'll work on another. Once I started brainstorming I came up with alot of wild ideas that came together into a little story. Sentinel was badly wounded in this story and became a parapoligic(?). I envision him like Steven Hawkings. His situation would be similar to Ironman in that he is dependant on armor to survive. I imagine sad situations where he begins to befriend women and must cut them loose because without the armor he cannot even talk. Doctors having to shut the suit off remotely because he hates being paralyzed. Lots of cool situations!! ps if anyone steals this stuff I'll hunt ya down:) ...and kill you:D and feed you to my muddaf'nfjdkjfsa :T

I Jinxed myself

A couple posts back I was talking about feeling great. Well, like 2 days after I posted that I got really sick. So sick I couldn't get out of bed. I had a fever that was about 104 and I couldn't eat anything because my throat was sore. In total I missed 5 days of work. With my days off I was out for about 7 consecutive days. Luckily it turns out I have really good health insurance through my job. I've never had to use it before. I only had to pay for my medication which I pay a fixed fee of $10. This was my first time going to a doctor in 6 years and I was glad to find out I only have strep throat. I was worried I might have diabetes because it runs in my family. I'm better now tho and only have to go for checkups this week. I think my insurance may cover that lazer eye surgery!

I got the cellphone. It has a camera and all kinds of web features. Its really fkn hot. I have 600 anywhere minutes w/unlimited nights and weekends. I also got this deal where I can call anyone with the same plan or phone for free. Monthly my bill should be about $45. My little brother also has the same phone and he took this picture of my nephew Anthony. He had jumped off the sofa and into the heater. So now he has this huge lump on his forehead. Its gone down some but there is still a scar.

Ok take care

More Pics

Shaved today and I feel like a little kid now. People have told me I look like I'm 15 yrs old when I'm clean shaven. I hope not. I'm goin to be job hunting soon so I figured I'd clean up a bit. Working overnights you tend to neglect shaving since there is no dress code. That doesn't mean I can go to work naked or anything but ... ya know .. we all wear clothes that are beat up with holes and stains because we usually get very dirty in our line of work.

O well check out the baby face..

Keeping Busy

I've been keeping busy. I don't know why but I've been feeling real good lately. I always try to have a positive attitude but lately its like I just wake up smiling. It feels like I'm in love but without a chick :). Ya know when your in love how fkn dumb you get all smiling and happy. I don't know what's up. I not doing drugs or anything lol. O well it feels good so fk it.

I have 3 days off from work this week!! in a row!!. I've been drawing like a mutha and catching up with different projects I am working on. I've been looking into my insurance plan from my job and I think I may be able to get that lazer surgery for my eyes. Right now I have contacts but if I could get that surgery that would be so awsome. I'm also looking into getting a camera cell phone. Woohoo!

A lady honked at me yesterday too!! I was cutting the grass out front all sweating and shit and a woman honked. I looked up to see if it was someone I knew but it was just a cute girl smiling. I know it might seem like nothing to you guys but me I barely see chicks around here. I work overnight so I'm working with a bunch of 40 yr old guys and the only females around are the 40 yr old cashiers. When I get out of work at around 7 am the only people awake at that time are the senior citizens. Now my job is very physically demanding so when I get out I'm still pumped and cannot go to sleep. I end up sleeping in the afternoon, waking up just in time to get to work at 11 p m. I'm not into malls and I don't know this area of Jersey well enough to find cool hang out places so having a girl honk at me was a big thing. I've been so wrapped up with work, taking care of my family(Mom, sis's, bro, nephew, nieces) and trying to get a good portfolio going of my art, that finding a girlfriend has been in the very back of my mind. Yea it gets lonely but I have faith the right girl will pop up.

Have fun Eva Ree Bod EE

Ok that didn't last long...

My sister moved back out after one week. I work overnight so I sleep during the after noon usually. I was alseep when it happened, but my sisters got into some kind of arguement and Elise said fk this I'm not going to take your shit and just moved back in with her "boyfriend?" I still see them everyday because GIGI, her daughter, goes to a daycare that is five minutes from here so we pick her up and then later in the evening Elise picks her up.

I am working on a project that deals with the Iraqi war. My friend Carlos came back from Iraq a couple months ago and he had a few stories. I interviewed him with a tape recorder and now I'm going to try to put it into some kind of story format with artwork. I thought about making it into a comic book styled book only with his narration instead of dialogue. Another idea is a Children's book format, where his story is printed out like a normal book with sections left black for art work that describes certain paragraphs. I don't want to dramatize his story or make it like Saving Private Ryan where its a tale based on actual events. I want his words to be the narration with my artwork simply reenforcing his words. I am goin to type out the interview soon.

I finished my work on the Indiana Jones project over at Pencil Jack
All the actual artwork is done we just need colorists and letterers to finish it up. I drew pages 3 and 8 and inked pages 1 and 3. I have offered to color a page because right now no one has offered to. I don't want the project to be scrapped just because its not colored. I suck at colors tho :/

I also joined the Iron Man vs the Zombie Jedi project. They have been having trouble getting artists to join up. They had a deadline for a page yesterday that wasn't met and today they have a deadline for 2 pages to be handed in. One artist has said he'll be able to hand in his page today, but there has been no word from the other 2 artists. Now the project is in danger of being scrapped.

My Sister is back !! WOOHOO!

My sister had moved out with her 2 daughters to live with her boyfriend's family but she's back. They are split up. My younger sis's one of my best friends and her kids are practically my own so its cool they are back home. She said she went out over the weekend with him and he was burping and farting in public. She asked him to relax or something and he was like "Look this is me". She said "Is this the kind of person I want to spend the rest of my life with?"

Its crowded here now and there is always a little kid crying or screaming. Personally I don't mind it but my mom freaks out and so do my sisters and I find the way they react more annoying than the actual kids. They start screaming "get me a bottle!, don't touch that!, there's no more pampers!" Every fucking thing they feel they have to scream louder than the kid.

I am inking my Indiana Jones page right now. Inking sucks. I don't have the patience for it. Also you have to be very careful and be able to hold your hand steady. I am very energetic when I draw and its like hitt'n the breaks when I have to ink. O well. I want to see this project completed already so I have to get it done. Hopefully by this weekend. I have to be careful because of the babies running around. I can't leave markers, pens or pencils out in the open or they'll grab 'em and write up on anything they find.

My job messed up on the payroll so I didn't get a check this week. No biggie, I'm just scrounging up change so I can eat at work. Luckily I filled up my gas tank at the end of last week. I'm surviving on Ramen noodle.

ok goin to hit the drawing table. For a great game check out http://natural-selection.org
I play that at least once a day. Very Addicting.

Jack Kirby = Wow!

My local comic shop has a 50% off back issue sale going on. I was flipping through alot of back issues, not sure what I should get, when I decided I'll check out the silver age section. Not this section has like the first issue of Avengers, Fantastic Four, Spidey etc. On the top of a stack of comics under a table there were some big oversized comics that looked kind of old. I picked them up to check them out and they were Treasury Editions of alot of comics. I thought they were going to be worth alot of money but when I asked the guy how much they were he said $2.50 with the discount. I picked up 6 of them.

1. Conan #15 art by Barry Windsor Smith, Jon Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams

2. Fantastic Four #2 reprints Galactus' first appearence as well as the Silver Surfer

3. Fantastic Four #11 More reprints with Frightful Four also more amazing Kirby art.

4. Thor #3 reprints Thor versus Hercules More Kirby art. That is the main reason I picked up alot of these.

5. Avengers #7 reprints first appearence of Vision. Jon Buscema art!!

6. Batman #1 Its Batman, Robin, and Joker's first appearence reprinted, I had to get it.

I have a newfound respect for these artists. Their art looks amazing in this oversized format. I wish more of todays comics could be reprinted in a similar format. Ultimates is something I'd like to see done this way.

On a side note, I passed by the comic shop today. They had put out some more of these oversized books and I was going to buy more. I was going to pick up one that reprinted JLA stories from the silver age as well as another one that reprinted the first appearence of the first FLASH! One of my favorite characters! But there was a different guy at the register today. As soon as I put them on the counter he said "You know those are ten bucks each?" to which I said "oh yea so with the discount they're $5 right?" He said "NO. Regular price is $20" I was kind of pissed but didn't say anything. I just put them back. I'm goin to keep passing by the store tho hoping that same guy who was at the register that other time will be there.

....continued.....(Comics)

2 X-Statix #24
Wow. You have to see this issue to believe it. Mr. Sensitive vs. Iron Man. The battle begins like a normal superhero fight. Basically 2 super strong types destroying their surroundings while brawling. They are both after a piece of Doop's brain. (Long story). The piece of brain just happens to be in the possesion of "The Church of the Naked Truth", and by naked they mean NAKED. The leader will only discuss the matter if our heroes are unclothed. So now they fight but instead of trading fists they tap each other. Without his suit, a tap is like a punch to Mr. Sensitive. But he is so sensititive he can pinpoint pressure points on Tony Stark's body. This issue is like nothing I've seen before and really fun. The art is handled by Mike Allred who is a master.

3 Ultimate X-men #48

I have to start by talking about how the book feels. It feels heavier and thicker than the other comics. I think this goes for all the Ultimate books. Really slick.

This issue is what I've been waiting for. When Brian K. Vaughan jumped onboard this book I really had no idea how it was going to be. The first couple issues where kind o f just beginning this tale with nothing really big happening except for the introduction of Sinister. This issue is where the shit happens. I don't want to ruin it too much for anyone who hasn't read it. The action was great and the play between the X-men was very well done. "Apocalypse" also makes an appearence. Sinister has become a whole lot more interesting with this issue. He kind of reminds me of the Red Dragon from the Hannibal prequel. Another great "OH SHIT" cliffhanger ending from BKV.
Brando's art was perfect. Can't wait for the next issue.

I also picked up a Wizard which is just wizard ya know. It hasn't been the Magazine I really hunt down anymore. With the internet all the current events is published right away. I wish it came with some unique stuff like exclusive preview pages or sketch book sections.

okokok 'nuff typ'n

Second!Comics that I picked up this week.

1. Green Lantern #178 I jumped back onboard as soon as Ron Marz started writing this book again. I had a few Hal Jordan GL issues but I really got into it right around the time Hal went bonkers killing the entire corps. I welcomed Kyle Ryner and followed his adventures through many issues. When Marz left the book originally I dropped it. This storyline he has going now is leading up to the reintroduction of Hal Jordan as GL. Kyle is getting shit on in it tho. I like the way Marz is writing it (dialoge and pacing) but it really sux to have all these negative things happen to Kyle within the last couple issues.

The art great in this book. I remember when Luke Ross was just a J. Scott Campbell imitator. He has a really clean yet detailed style. When I was skimming through his first issue on GL I thought it was Jeff Johnson at first. Also in this particular issue, #178, the detail on the Naval Carrier and fighter jets is insane. Right up there with Hitch's Ultimates stuff. I think if I would have read that in the script I would have shit myself. If only the story was more positive. Hopefully Ross will be the regular artist when GL relaunches with Hal if DC goes that route.

It's Wednesday and ya know what that means!!... Fkn Comics YO

:D

Here's a list of comics I picked up today.

1. Astonishing X-men #1 Director's Cut where Director's Cut = Rip off
2. Astonishing X-men #2
3. Mystique #16
4. Superman #206 Jim Lee what happened? what is this garbage?
5. Wanted #4 Bout fkn time. Better be worth the wait.
6. Robin #127 Ok the New Robin gimmick is done, i want to see a good story now.
7. The Flash #211 So Awsome! Geoff Johns is doin great shit with the series. I still like the Waid run better.
8. Teen Titans #12 Another Johns book. Its been goin great and McKone is an amazing artist
9. Excalibur #2 Wow. The Magneto situation is fked up. Evidently the Magneto at the end of Morrison's run (Planet X) wasn't the real Magneto. Damn they didn't waste any time bringing him back. Not just him but Xorn as well. It ticked me off seeing this happen but Claremont is handling it well. Magneto comes back is like "Oh come on you know I don't act like that and I could never do those things" and we're all like "shit he's fkn right! How the fk did I fall for that?" Eventhough I believe Morrison meant for that to be the real Magneto.

I also got a Previews and the smaller Marvel Previews. If I have more time during this week I'll put reviews for each. Anythoughts above are just from skimming through the issues.

Paul M. Johnson Jr

Paul M. Johnson Jr was beheaded. I pray for him and his family.

Today was kind of uneventful. I worked the overnight as usual 11 - 7:30 a.m. My friend T called me up asking to go to a job interview with him. It was for a low level job in a labratory. I basically sat in an office for an hour with some drawings I did back in 2000. I had forgotten about them and it was cool to see how much I've grown artistically. After that it was around lunch time so we stopped by Blimpies and Circuit City. Hung out afterwards playing the awsome Chronicles of Riddick for Xbox.

I've been checking the Dc forum hoping to have gotten some kind of response to the short story I posted but I got nutt'n. O well. I'm enjoying it and T gave it a thumbs up so that's good enough for me. I hope my little sister likes it. I gave her a link but haven't heard anything from her. She's never been into comics but I lent her the Tpb's of Y and she loved it. So now I pick up the issues for myself and the tpbs for her, then I pass them on to whoever is interested.

ookokok I'm tired. Working tonight :/

Y the Last Man FanFic

This is a fanfic for Y the Last Man I am working on. I also posted this on the DC Y Message Boards.

Ok this may be long. You've been warned.

I started by imagining a Mrs. Magoo. Now toss her into the Y verse. So what follows is a story I was brainstorming while working the overnight. I was actually laughing to myself. I am going on 36 hrs no sleep.

Here is the situation with our group at the beginning of this tale. After Widow's Pass Yorick and 355 have started hanging out together more and distancing themselves from Dr. Mann. Unintentionally of course, but they often find themselves chatting and laughing then have to stop to ask, "Hea, where's Docter Mann?", only to find her inspecting something that is more to her interests or stopping for rest. They are walking along a highway somewhere in the "plains" states where there are no mountains so the wind is fierce. They come across abandoned farms but they feel as if they are many hours apart. When ever they make it to one of these sanctionaries they stock up and move out. There we are. Now I begin.

They come up to a small farm. The trackters and equipment outside are rusted as if it is another abandoned farm except there is a lush garden with vegetables nearby which had to have been maintaned. They had run out of food a day ago and they were all starving. 355 has to stop Yorick from raiding the garden.

"What are you doing?! There's obviously someone livin' here and I think it'd be kind of rude to just tear into their crop. Let's just find whoever's livin' here and ask politely."

Yorick: "arg, fine I'm goin to take a piss. No peeking." smiling

355: "Nigga pls. I've seen it all and done it all. As a matter of fact I'll be all the way over there just so you don't even have to look over your shoulder thinkin there is even a hair of a chance I'd try to look. You can piss peacefully punk." smiling back

355 and Dr. Mann walk off yelling "Hello?" "Anybody Home?". Dr. Mann mentions hoping to find a television or radio to see if some kind of communications has been reestablished.

Yorick wanders off looking for a spot, stomach growling from hunger. He finds a thin tree. He lifts his right leg immitating a dog peeing and looks over his shoulder smiling. No one is around. He frowns and puts his leg down and gets to buisness. Seconds after he starts chickens start roaming around him.

"Aw no way! Sh*t! You terds better not try anything stupid. That's the fate of the world right there and I'll be damned if.."
"Here chick chick chick chick"

The chickens start flapping madly dangerously close to Yoricks legs and he hops onto his toes while zipping up. As he looks up he sees a carving of a heart with Jeb and Barb inside of it on the tree. An old woman is walking towards him, bent over, petting at thin air.

"Here chick chick chick chick chi..."

Yorick: "Oh Hi sorry I really had to go and.."

Yorick freezes because the woman's hand is touching him near his crotch. There is a piss stain. Her hand rises up to his face and she is feeling his face. Yorick's face is kind of disgusted because the stench of the piss on her hand is unbearable. She feels around his face.

"Jeb? Jebdia? Where the hell you been son? We been waitin for ya ever since you ran off with that girl of yours to get married. How was that thing anyways? What'd ya call it? WoolStock?"

During this dialoge she is smiling and pinching Yorick's cheeks and hugging him. She stops at the end and her jaw drops in shock.

"Oh Pa's gonna have a talk with you. He was talk'n bout ripp'n you a new one next time he saw ya. He's inside come on. I'll git Dinner up."

Yorick: "Pa?" face shocked
"Dinner." smiling
"No wait lady look..." angry

Old Woman: "What!"

she snatches Yorick by his ear and yanks him dragging him towards the main house.

Yorick: "ow ow ow ow"

"The hell you think you are back talking boy? Git inside."

Yorick: "355!! Dr. Mann!!! Anybody !! Help!"

355 and Dr. Mann run over stopping them before they reach the house.

355: "Hi I'm.."

They stop, taking in the fact that Yorick is bent over being dragged by his ear by this old woman. They have the "WTH?" face. Yorick does the "I don't fkn know!" shrug.

Old Woman: "LaWanda! What ya doin here? We let you go years ago."

Closeup of 355''s pissed off face. The old woman moves towards her to hug her letting go of Yorick. He quickly starts gesturing to 355 to calm down by putting up his palms.

"You brought my baby back to me didn't cha! I got something for ya."

She pulls out some change. 355 reaches for her gun under her jacker. Yorick jumps in while Dr. Mann is smiling with her finger to her cheek watching this scene play out.

Yorick: "Yea ma LaWanda ..umm...done picked me up at the .."

she pushes Yorick out of the way

Old Woman: "What's that ya got there? Ya brought me sutt'n LaWanda! Aw ya shouldn't have."

She reaches into 355 jacket and pulls out candybars, twinkies, and chips.

"You shoulda known better than that. You know I don't eat that junk. How am I supposed to keep the teeth I got eat'n that junk? The hell wrong with you?"

Yorick and Dr. Mann throw pissed off faces at 355 while she throws back an eyebrow raised "sorry don't kill me" smile.
